Balenciaga Lego High Heel Shoes - Sexy or Crazy?

Balenciaga is a great designer but I have had to raise a brow at some of his high heel shoe designs over the years. In 2007, many people raised a brow when they were first introduced to his high heel shoe that many people felt resembled something made by a child using Lego blocks. Off a runway, I do not think that most women would run to by these heels unless someone paid them to.

I have grown fond of the shoe design but I still would not wear it. I would however like to add it to a collection just to be looked at. These heels are also expensive, coming in at a whopping $4,175 a pair. Sexy crooner, Beyonce was spotted at the AMA's wearing and performing in a pair of these eye catching shoes and all over the internet fans and haters have wondered if she owns a mirror. Let's just hope that they came with the regular celebrity swag and that she did not actually pay for them.

These heels come in bright ugly and plain black but as if that wasn't bad enough, the designer decided that making them into a variety of flats couldn't possibly make them any uglier. Wrong!

Grrr these flats have escaped Imelda’s attention. When did hell open a shoe factory – there ghastly!!!

From the moment I saw the ‘Lego’ shoe clonk down the runway it was true love. It’s one of the most original ‘signature’ shoes I’ve seen since the Prada rubber sole mary jane in the late 90’s.

$4,175 you say, do they take ‘first born’?

Firstly - These shoes are not designed by Balenciga as implied by your opening sentence. They are designed by Pierre Hardy in collaboration with Nicolas Ghesquiere for the house of Balenciaga - The DESIGNER; Cristóbal Balenciaga died in 1972.

Secondly - The flats at the bottom of the page are not Balenciaga they are Fendi! - designed by the Fendi sisters and Karl Lagerfeld in collaboration.

These shoes are work of art. The genius and originality of their design should be respected.

Hi Anon,

I've been a high heel junkie for a few decades now and I'm aware that Balenciaga is not alive. However, I and everyone else use the term because that is the label.

Also, I seem to have offended you by stating my dislike of the Lego heels, I'm sorry about that, but its just my opinion. The Balenciaga line has many beautiful high heel shoes, but these are not to my liking.

I love love love the lego heel. I don't like the flats though, but I am not a fan of flats in general. They are cute, just not my style. Ohhhh I wish they were sold at human price as opposed to superstar price. I would do them justice and care for them too. Too bad I don't have the money for that kind of heel. Balenciaga heels are absolutely amazing and I agree that the designers are genius!
